High up in the misty mountains of Cutervo, Cajamarca (2,000–2,100 masl), where the air is thin and the views are ridiculous, lives Felipe Estela. One of the original coffee pioneers in the region and the kind of guy who turns “resourceful” into an art form.
This lot comes straight from Felipe’s farm, El Roble, where he grows and processes his own beans before they join the rest of the El Morito association for export. The association itself started as a multigenerational family project and officially leveled up in 2022, now led by Felipe’s nephew David Flores (General Manager) and quality supervisor Lenin Flores. Think of it as a tight-knit coffee crew with warehouses, vision, and zero tolerance for average beans.
Peru has long played the quiet genius of South American coffee – wedged between the loud giants of Colombia and Brazil, quietly growing incredible high-elevation Arabica on tiny family farms. From Jesuit missionaries to British railways, agrarian reform, and a stubborn smallholder spirit, Peruvian coffee has survived it all. Today, places like Cutervo represent the exciting new wave: ambitious farmers like Felipe bridging tradition with serious specialty quality.
So when you brew Felipe Estela, you’re not just drinking coffee. You’re sipping on pioneering spirit, ingenuity, and a whole lot of Andean soul.
One traceable farmer. One legendary farm name. One seriously good cup.
